Just reading that the Calias Wine & Beer shop is to close in Jan owing to the restrictions we'll be allowed to bring back does that mean that there'll be a duty free allowance again

What’s the world coming to? The French have just banned sharing cheeseboards.

The only way you will be able to continue bringing back almost unlimited booze for personal use, is if any deal struck involves us being within the single market.
Currently you do pay duty, French duty. Because we were in the single market if you paid the duty to the state were it was purchased then you could take it anywhere within the EU exempt from further duty. Even if we get a deal I doubt if we will be within the single market, but you never know. You can be within the single market and outwith the EU. Let's wait and see. My bet would be a return to duty free with all of the limitations that came with it.

The current post 1 Jan 2021 position is that only alcohol and tobacco will be available as duty free items at ports and airports etc, and as far as those items are concerned the limits will be .....

"As of 1 January, the government is also increasing the limits of what you’re allowed to bring back to the U.K. from the EU. It’s of particular interest to those travelling by land or sea, as you’ll be able to bring up to 42 litres of beer, 18 litres of still wine and four litres of spirits or 9 litres of sparkling wine or similar of less than 22% ABV."

Of course there is plenty of time for that to change ........ 🤔🤔🙄
