Currently up in ullapool but moving south east tomorrow. I seen a post in the past 2 weeks about a few locations to view them near inverness from a new member and can remember canalman saying he added them to the poi locations. Howver a search of the sire and I can't find it anyone help to locate it or give some good spots

Fort george is a good place. You can see them coming in on the tide.

I agree with Fort George. I've never been there and not seen them. Family groups of dolphins with babies. We have maybe just been lucky. If you are Historic Scotland or English Heritage members, you get in free. I think it may be possible to park and just walk around the grounds, and not go into the museums, without paying, but I'm not sure.

Hi, Another spot is on the Black isle. You can park up near the Fortrose golf club.

Agree with Dezi - Fortrose golf club was our preferred place for dolphin spotting.

Locals advised us that early evening is the best time to see them.

East of Inverness. Fort George to the south and Channonry Point to the north. Dolphins and Seals often seen in the narrower stretch of the Morray Firth between the two.
Some members have wild camped at Fort George or (excuse the language) there is a C&CC site at Rosemarkie right on the waters edge.
Always plenty of watchers so just head for the groups of people.

Cromarty on the Black Isle. Either park on the large grassy area or if you have a small van, take the road up to viewpoint where you can park overnight. You can see dolphins from there but there is a path that goes down the cliffs to the town. From here, you get a better view.

Agree with the recommendation of Fort George (a good wildcamping spot) but would also recommend places further east along the coast - especially Spey Bay and Cullen. We have wilded at those two places many times and have never failed to spot dolphins. Good spotting!

dolphin spotting

Hi. If you are North of Inverness, go to Fortrose on the Black Isle - just north east of the bridge over the firth. Chanonry Point is a famous dolphin spotting place.

East from Inverness, dolphins are regularly spotted on the firth from Hopeman and all along to Cullen and Beyond. A good place to visit is Spey Bay Wild Life Centre - frequent sightings at the home of the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Centre. Nr to Fochabers.

The cafe does lovely hot chocolate and sticky buns too! Enjoy ... and good luck with the spotting :)
