Does Anyone Have The Answer

In more than 20 years of motor homing I've never found the answer to this conundrum?
Perhaps someone can enlighten me please?

Here's an example. We're tucked away on the campsite in Sheilbridge tonight because of the bad weather forecast. Only one caravan on the site when we arrived so we positioned ourselves as far away as possible.

Got set up and 10 mins later another motor home pulled in beside us. The whole campsite and he chooses next to us.

So we moved to 2 spaces away from the caravan. The other motor home moves to the other side of the caravan.
A dog barks like mad in the caravan so motor homes moves opposite.

This has happened time and time again over the years.

There must be an answer somewhere.

there is an entire thread on this somewhere, you are not on your own, heres some pics of what happende to me in Filey, trust me i do not know these people who just come and parked next to me with all the space around, i even parked away from the cliffe edge to avoid this happening, its madness.

In scotland last year, we parked in a very large car park, right up in the corner, away from entrance and anyone, a MH came in and parked that close to me i could not open my side door, i asked him why he had parked so close, he said 'your in my spot' lol, can you believe it? lol,

Not everyone is as grumpy and antisocial as we are.

Let's stick together, as far away as possible!!

parking

Perhaps they are hoping ,you will ask them in for a cup of tea.

The Human Herding instinct my friends is I suspect the answer.

Same parking up in the supermarkets.

Wear a big hat, be as eccentric as possible praying to a random star and perhaps the twats might leave you in the peace and solitude you were searching for

Channa

Alternatively get yourselves a psychotic dog That might shift em

hi in scarbados at the moment. last night us and another motorhome were parked in the water treatment horseshoe, a decent distance appart. a van conversion arrived and shoehorned himself between us despite there being loads of room on our opposite side. this morning at silly o"clock he started his van up and sat running his engine for about an hour. WHY?????

Bet he was up all night watching he TV and wanted to watch the news with his breaky but ran his battery low, or he was cold and has no heating, or maybe he is just plane old igronant and don't care about the effects hie running engine would have on others.

As for the parking next to you, some poeple just have to be near other folk just to fell safe and happy, went out with a lass like that untill I got the phone bill once back of deployment, £1200 from a land line. wouldn't have minded so much if she was on the phone to me in the falklands but all the calls were to her family and freinds, I only got one call in the whole six months away.

Squibby.

Funny you should say that Squibby because that thought about being safe and happy crossed my mind too.

I know we are all different but some folks can be thoughtless.

You are arriving too early, start to arrive later and park next to whoever you fancy "getting to know"

I open the boot and throw gear in a big circle then stake the dog in the middle. It usually works, but some folks have rhino hide.

Well i have decided to develop tourettes syndrome the next time somebody does it to me, i'm sick of it, so i will shout it out loud, apologise that i have tourettes, they might get the message, lol, think that would be quite funny lol

My van is old and tatty, is painted NATO green, and has Zombie Squad and biohazard stickers on it. A lot of folks seem to give it a wide berth!

My husband calls it the 'Herding Instinct'!!

We coiuld not believe it when we were parked in St Vallery sur Somme in the HUGE motorhome parking place (my picture only shows two of the ten or so bays - my camera hasn't got a wide angle facility!!) and 20 minutes later this French motorhome pulled up next to us!!! We alreqady had the BBQ going so we couldn't really up sticks.

That also works when parking in disabled spots - If someone asks what your disability is you shout "TOURETTES YOU F****R!!!!"

(I made that up...)
