Parked at Easter Anstruther the other night were four boy racers and their mates and girlfriends and while to give them some credit they were not too noisy, eventually they got bored and left about midnight exhausts growling and gravel flying:drive:....I don't mind that, I'm used to it. In the early light of dawn though, exactly where they were parked were bloody gert big piles of rubbish where the driver's and passenger's windows would have been. Not six feet away was an (empty) rubbish bin. So armed with a couple of Tesco's shopping bags I wandered around the carpark like I always do, picked up the crap and shoved it in the bin:angel:....I call it payment for my overnight stop. Seems some of us out of towners have more respect for local amenities than some of the locals.
Does anyone else do this sort of thing?

I pick up litter if it is near where I park my van, wouldn't want people to think I had left litter, I often clean up around the Bournes on Aires where Cretins have left the contents of their toilets in full view, often in the drain at the drinking water tap or trapped in the gratings at the disposal area, again I don't want others thinking it was me that left the area in a dirty state,:mad1::mad1::mad1:

yep:cool1: and it's not just the youngster's who offend we have picked up after a respectable looking old couple, all marks and sparks packaging at both side's where the car had parked on marine drive in benefits on sea one sunday afternoon

p.s.think they were from newcastle the car had a bb reg plate??:)

YEP been there
we do it as a matter of course its nice to find a clean spot and its only rite to leave it that way ,
sat at the ferry port last month and watched two yound racer types (and i used to be one )throwing their rubbish under their car as we waited for the ferry ,when they moved off we picked up the rubbish and took it with us ,we then presented it to them in the middle of the restaurant with a huge crowd around ,with a verry loud explenation of where it came from ,to a loud round of applause ,strange we diddent see them again on the trip .just hope it makes a difference (we can live in hope )but it made me feel better .the continentals allready think we are slobbs without the kidds proving them rite

Sorry Arthur, I know the way-eye five oh is the geordie police force but never heard of bb reg plate?:....you're going to skin me alive now for that aren't you?

Yep, always do it, this is what pees me off with the complaints from locals, us MH's contribute more than they think, I was parked up on South Cliff Scarbro last weekend, theres a mobile catering van apparently the owner of that hates MH as she says they ruin her trade (dont know how) anyway, after a fair walk i returned to find the car park littered with empty poly cups, they were everywhere, the mobile cafe was pulling out and drove over all the litter, mmmm does she not have a duty as a supplier? suppose I got blame for that:cool1:

We do a tidy up aswell, maybe we should all use the camera on our mobile phones to take sneaky pics of offenders & send them to the local council as proof that it`s not motorhomers that make a mess.

BB was the PSV badge designation for Yorkshire (Leeds) AA was the North East (Newcastle upon Tyne). I still have my AAnnnnn PSV badge from the 70s somewhere.

That said BB was also a county vehicle reg designation in Newcastle upon Tyne ie. NBB 123 and 123 NBB or X123 NBB,

It must have been an old car to still be sporting the BB designator.

I litter pick before I leave a spot otherwise I somehow feel guilty and think if anyone comes along now they will think I left all this. don't know why. I surpose a bit like how you feel when a police car inocently tails you for a few miles.

Yes, of course.

As already stated one of the reasons is that others who have seen us spending the night might jump to the conclusion that we had left the rubbish.

But there is the general feeling that the world is a nicer place when the rubbish is gone. We quite often clean up when we arrive at a beauty spot that has been marred by idiots who have just tossed their detritus out the window.

Given that not a few of those idiots came to the spot to admire the view or enjoy the countryside, I can't fathom the thinking (or lack thereof) that leads them to leave unsightly garbage behind right there.

litterpicking

like most motorhome folk we also leave the place tidy, we do this for no thanks , we do this cause this is how we would like to find the place on arrival. There are some mighty strange folk out there.

I always do an inspection around my MH. If there are spaces left and right of me, I make sure that is also clean, even if it was not my rubbish. My own personal belief is that cars or others leave their rubbish behind.

Litter pick also

Yes, we do this as well, at every location we stop at, or wild camp. We clean the site. we are ashamed  of how people have left it, ruined by litter.......We take a large plastic bag and we collect.

The amount of rubbish that is along the shores and lochs of Scotland that we have seen, is really tremendous. Including child car seats, push chairs, broken deck chairs, umbrellas, plastic bags full of food wrapping, booze bottles, shoes, raincoat, a cooly box, remains of barbecues and much more.

Why these litter louts go to these particular locations I do not know, (oh yes I do, to booze, take drugs and leave litter, an angry, hidden agenda they have, projected onto the countryside), because anyone who values earth, nature, and creatures great and small, would not leave litter.

And this is one of the reasons why camping has been banned round some of the lochs, this inculdes MH's now, last year at Loch Lubnaig the camers were cutting down trees to fuel their fires, spoilt it for everyone the selfish gits
