I saw this notice on fb. Just wondering if it would be enforceable as nowhere are motor caravans mentioned, as most of our vehicles are described on our V5.

I suspect they are because all campervans, motor caravans and motorhomes fall under the DVLA category of "motor caravan" according to this government web page, which deals with conversions. Somewhere in the referenced order, CCC have probably defined the term "motorhome", and these notices will apply if your vehicle meets that definition.

Looks like they are still ANTI Motorhomes in Cornwall. Extending the Overnight Parking Prohibition. They evidently don’t want MHs so if you do park you could be in for a nasty surprise in the morning. We thought we would have a look round Cornwall this year but we are staying on CL sites and SWMBO is following in the car. Been before with a 7.5m MH and it was terrible. The locals may know where you can go but don’t think it’s worth the hassle. Looked at hiring a car but by the time you have added the insurance on it’s just not worth it. We have used bikes but a lot of the nice CLs seem to be inland and away from anywhere. Certainly different to Spain / France where you can find a reasonable site next to a beach.

i went there once - never felt so unwelcome . plenty of nice beaches and scenery elsewhere

We went there once, there was a car park with two dedicated motorhome parking places, but only during the day.
My good lady wandered into the tourist information office and asked if there was anywhere we could park up for the night as we needed an early start in the morning to continue our journey.
The answer she got rudely was "if you can afford a motorhome, you can afford a camp site" to which my wife said " the reason we can't afford a campsite is because we are still paying for the motorhome" and promptly walked out.
We don't go there anymore. :)

It didn't used to be like this. I can't blame anyone for not wanting to come. Between the distrust of many locals and the excusiveness of the second homers it has become a place largely bereft of a welcome.

Given that a huge influx of tourists who have not gone abroad this year are due to arrive I think we will have spend the summer elsewhere too!

This is the problem these people are ignorant about what motor homing is all about.
If I only wanted to go to campsites then for around one third the cost of my new motorhome I would have bought a caravan.
They just don't get it, and sadly they probably never will.

There seems to be a good many POI's in Cornwall, which would appeal to me more than a car park in town, but we have stayed in Cornwall in a holiday cottage and on a campsite and found the people quite offhand and unfriendly despite me handing out money. Hence I feel they would be happier if we just sent the money rather than delivering it by hand.

There's something about this from a few years ago – not all that many. Cornwall brought in a rule defining motorhomes as any vehicle which could be used for sleeping – including estate cars with a mattress in the back; which I thought a bit unneccassary. I mounted a small campaign and so did John Thompson with his motorhome touring organisation (TMCTO). We co-operated in that we both knew what each of us was doing but the council would not have known this.

The culmination of our negotiations was that John was offered a meeting with the council to discuss motorhome parking and its possible provision. John was in Spain (I think) at the time and I was in England but about to leave for France so neither of us could go to their meeting which went ahead without us.. We couldn't find anyuone else prepared to go in our stead.

I probably still have some of the documentation if anyone wanted to try again. Probably the stuff I submitted to the council and things obtained from the council under the FoI.

if John reads this then he may have records too.
