Coldingham Bay / St Abbs (Berwickshire)

We haven't been this way since the last century. I know this a wildcamping forum but I thought I would share this cracking little 7 van site we have found. It used to be a CL but now its independent. Its at the charming village of Coldingham just up from Coldingham Bay and near St Abbs.

Stunning area. Not much has changed here in the 30 years since we were last up this way I was pleased to discover.

If you fancy a few days in this area then this is the place to come.

7 pitches, well spaced out, fully serviced with EHU, water and grey waste for each pitch. Two or three hundred metres to Coldingham village and about 1.5 miles to the fabulous beach. St Abbs harbour is two or three miles and about the same to St Abbs head. Great walking area and of course scootering.

There are no toilets or showers onsite but self contained we dont need them. £22 or £25 if you want an awning

What is the physical access like to the site? I don't know if it was that site or a road to Coldingham Bay but we were heading that way some time ago to go to the Bay and didn't like the look of the road at all and decided not to go down there.
Not happened to head that way since in either the Motorhome or the car but I understand it is a lovely place. Maybe go there this week thinking about it

Watched an amusing and totally silly confrontation at St Abbs... As you will know, the road going down to the harbour is single lane, and there was a campervan going down and he was around 3/4 or more the way down when a car started up (I think it was a Range Rover from memory?) and the car driver decided he had the right of way (I don't know if it is officially priority to uphill traffic?) and was shouting at the campervan to reverse up the road. I suspect that he was maybe a local and decided he was more important than obvious tourists in a camper.
long story short, after about 15 minutes the car reversed back down to let the van come down and clear the road, which should have been the case anyway.
After that, in case it was a common situation, when we were due to leave I sent the OH up the road on foot in order to stop any possible vehicles coming down to make sure I had a clear run up

Absolute doddle to get to. Decent two way A and B roads to Coldingham and the access road up to the site is about 300 yards and is also fine. Loads of room. We are 8.5m and no bother at all. I'm not sure I would take anything bigger than 6.5m to St Abbs Harbour though but mainly as it might be tricky to park.

How close to local shops, restaurants, pubs etc please? We like to be close to somewhere we can get a pint ..... of milk (obviously)

Just measured it on Maps. Just over half a mile to the New Inn in the centre of Coldingham. Forgot to add. Good free WiFi and Vodafone signal is good.

Was at Coldingham recently by car, parked at beach CP then took the clifftop walk to St Abbs. Coffee and scone at Ebb Carrs cafe, checked my donation box I made for the Independent Lifeboat, with the box looking very sad for itself. More disappointed that the sign-age stating donated by Edinburgh College is now removed. That’s the last I’ll do anything for the lifeboat.

Then a great walk back to Coldingham Bay.
