Ouch, someone will be devastated. Could have been much worse though !

Thankfully the Calor Lite was outside upon impact otherwise it could have been nasty

Someone’s pride and joy as being said it could have been so much worse

Funny that there’s one parked in the ditch/ hedge on the road from Harrogate to York, the guys got his steps there emptying his van thru the window cus the doorway is in the middle of the hedge,
Obviously silly season again when all the caravans come out and the idiots can’t remember how to use a tow ball or a F••••NG BREAKAWAY CABLE oooh lets just hook it over the ball that’ll be fine we’re only going to Scarborough 😡😡😡😡😡😡, why are we still using towballs people don’t know how to use them or they forget imho caravans should have a proper hitch with a pin and r clip.
Sorry rant over

Because there's half a chance it will be hooked up properly, using pin and clip, once this gets lost then people just drop a bolt in, have a look at some farm vehicles.

No idea about this year Andy, but Easter time the Police are pulling early season caravanners on the A64 and checking vans and licences, they did have a caravan engineer with them for guidance

Channa

Caravan sales person i know says they never bother or get ask for a breakaway cable.:hammer:
Police are starting to pull them here for speeding on m/way,well over 60mph some are doing.

Now does this look sexy one of these fitted to all cars that are towing anything1C349DB2-0048-4089-A608-D5E36EE58D96.jpg

We travelled from Cambridge to newton Abbott for Easter weekend about 8 years ago and saw 4 vans that had become unhitched! Like I said silly season, police stops bring it on, if your a truck driver it’s unsafe load and it’s a big fine and possibly lose your job if your a caravanner it’s oh I mustn’t have hitched it properly really sorry😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

When I towed Caravans , it was always my big worry that the van would separate from the tow vehicle, in motion so after hitching up I would always [ and still do when using my trailer ] lift the tow hitch at the car and rock the hitch up and down to ensure that it was properly hooked on, you can tow a caravan or trailer several miles with the hitch just sitting on the tow ball and not locked , but eventually this will come apart and you will part company with the Caravan / trailer, so be aware, I have seen cars and Caravans up side down on my journeys but still hitched up !

I have been overtaken in my motorhome while doing 60mph being my Hymers struggling maximum on motorways while a Car and Caravan overtakes in the outside lane (thought that was illegal)easily pushing 65/70 with single axles the caravan swaying from left to right so they are oblivious to the caravan being there I am sure and forget its behind them

That's why the M5 is regularly blocked by overturned caravans, esp. around Bristol, everything's fine until they have to make a sudden steering or braking manuver and then it flips.

Quite often I have been bimbling along the motorway in the motorhome at around 65mph, and seen a tugger looming up in my offside mirror preparing to overtake.
My wife says that she thinks that caravans and trailers should have 60mph stickers fixed to their rear by regulation... I agree.
It does seem that there is no trailer speed limit in Holland, because most tuggers stay with the flow of the faster traffic.
