Going to be a lot of disappointed owners, hope they all have good insurance. I always think that motorhomes often park to close to each other, which if there was a fire in one, then it has the potential to spread easily, were as if you leave a decent distance between you and the next van this is less likely to happen. Don't know if there are any regulations as to the distance between caravans or motorhomes.

Some storage sites insist on removal of gas bottles in case of fire, but what do you do with a fixed tank or Gaslow bottles?

David, you are either very brave or very daft putting a statement like that on here :scared: They like to be " snug " i believe the term is at the meets :rolleyes2:

CAMC and C&CC sites along with some private ones have a 6 meter rule for safety reasons.

Tight aires

We were at the Nononcourt aires a couple of nights ago, parking for 6 vans, most of them big ones, and 3 or four others squeezed in to non-marked spots. The vans were about 2 to 3 foot away from each other, the closest I have ever parked. Talk about fire risk. The French don't seem to worry, as long as it is free. Yet in the UK we're talking about 6 or 8 metres gap. It did worry me.

I can jump a foot but not 6. I was more concerned about getting out of the van. My son was on a wild camping site in Holland a few years ago. A friend of theirs fell asleep smoking a cigarette, or some similar scenario, the van went up, he was in the back of the van and couldn't get to the door, the friends tried to get to him with no chance. They could hear him... Can you imagine?

Sounds horrible, but no acrylic windows to break?

Oh that’s not good, most storage sites I’ve seen could suffer this fate.

Drive down the Freckleton bypass towards Warton just past Clifton Marsh and look right, 2 storage sites with them packed in like sardines :scared:
