Campervan Fire

According to the Fill LPG website this garage has LPG pumps. Hope that wasn't the cause otherwise there will be more bans and refusals.

Just seen that on the BBC - my first thought was that I hope it wasn't some idiot attempting to fill a non-refillable gas bottle, otherwise there's a real risk of more refusals for legitimate refills as happened with Morrisons. It is an Autogas station.

My money would be on someone with the fridge left on gas, as recently posted on another forum when there was a flash fire which melted the fridge vents.

Fill up with LPG that, in my experience, always leaks a little gas when the nozzle is removed and having a naked flame a couple of feet away.

What could possibly go wrong?

I always have the fridge on 12v for travel.

There’s a lot to be said for a gas free van. ie diesel heating and cooker. 🚒

but gas lights are really nice ,and help keep away midges when they are around.
give a bit of heat ideal for them just chilly evenings .
had mine for years great bits of kit.

Days of faffing with mantles are in the past. God said let there be light and gave us LED.

Exactly how I went with the transit..... Despite ALL those that insisted I couldn't do without gas....
Worked fine for us over 3 years or so....
Got to say that the motorhome is a step backwards in a lot of ways....
I'll be keeping gas for the oven and for the gas water heater....
The rest will be diesel and electric as with the transit.

I've seen some pretty brutal attempts to dry out damp motorhomes but that's now the driest Swift on the road!

The filling station had only been refurbished a couple of months ago

How many times do we hear of something being refurbished ( not just petrol stations ) then it goes up in flames.

Morrisons down on Preston Marina has just had a brand new petrol station built replacing the old antiquated one they had.

I hear they are having one problem after another particularly with the electrics.

This is evident on the electronic price display structures at either end of the main car park showing incorrect or no prices at all.

A few weeks back we called in to fuel up at night and nearly half the lighting on the forecourt and in the shop wasn`t working.

I asked why they weren`t on and the answer i got was ................ no idea mate, everything`s turned on :rolleyes2:
