Had a van to be registered on the 1st March. The dealer overlooked it was a leap year so it was registered with a 61 plate on 29 Feb instead of a 12 plate!

We had a new 18 plate last March and the first thing I did was replace with our private plate.
No body knew it was new:idea-007:
Our 9 year old car which we did buy new, passed another MOT this week. I did not expect it to fail as it only has just over 20K miles on the clock and the tester has previously told me, it is one of the cleanest he has ever seen.
Also, reinsured with I hate to say with Saga for £240, fully comp and including UK full recovery!

At that mileage it would be better to get a taxi for trips.

Nothing like the smell of a new car especially an expensive one then after a week the smell gose along with the smile used to change cars more than my socks thought it was a good economy buy a nice top of the range car trade it in every year never bought a tyre or an mot for 15 years or paid a mechanic once so was good for me at the time especially if you bought the right car at the right time cash with a decent discount don’t think that’s possible nowadays actually worked out cheaper than running old clappers.

In the 15 years i had my last car i spent nout as had most of if any parts in stock from cars i dismanteled, parts changed,g/box and clutch 2hr job, pads shoes, rear w cylinders, rear wheel bearings, one front bearing, ball joints and track rod ends ,stearing rack boots, exhaust, jobs that any school boy could do,which reminds me how many of you lot did car maintenance at school,or were you all pen pushers.

I picked up a brand new car, removed the rear seats, fitted the dog cages and set off for a dog walk with that nice new car smell to breathe. We were caught in a thunderstorm and drove home with that smell of wet dogs. :(

True as after xmas 4 year old cars at auction go for buttons here as dealers move them on and will not sell retail in case probs with expensive brains etc to which they would have to foot the repair bill.
My new to me car at this age with 27 thu on clock one owner bought for £1.900 cash in hand,no one wants cars here over 3/4 years old, have to keep up with the jones.

WOW that sounds a good bargain..........sounds as tho thats the place to go for secondhand deal

I was thinking that a while back but …. if people buy cars with the knowledge and intention of getting shot within 2-3 years, they will not bother taking any real care of them I would think. Cheap Second Hand, but likely shagged and in poor nick.

I thought your were telling a joke when you mentioned £147,000 for a SWIFT, seems not!

Thought we might have a wander over today and see if they have one in stock. Not holding my breath but as they are the only supplier you would have thought they would. How else are they going to sell them. Our Laika was supplied by Southdowns in Portsmouth they have Concordes in stock @ £245,000 a piece.

Dirty hands me Trev. Rebuilt my first bike engine at the age of 11 ( Brothers had bikes so I learned a lot) Mind you its a lot easier to pay someone to do the dirty work these days ;)

It’s not the price, it’s the price for a Swift that shocked me.

3 year old mark Motability cars are a good bet, full service history and remedial work done ,the cars are graded once defleeted and supermarket kisses removed etc

A lot tend to be the smaller mPVS and few have had adaptations

Been to Brownhills today not expecting to see one as not even on their website. Well they have one tucked away at the back. Considering how expensive it is and the fact that they are the only Dealer you would have thought they would have made a bit more of it than they have.

Anyway it's twin back axle with Iveco Chassis. Not to bad to look at but couple of bits of trim have fell off already. Funnily its the same bit of trim that has fell off the cheaper tag axle one outside. Its the piece of shaped wood that hides the lights in the overhead bed. Its just stuck on with 3 cheap bits of velcro. At this sort of price point you would expect parts to be securely fastened in place. The main door does not open fully so you catch the lid of the rubbish bin on the way in. No where to put anything in the rear bedroom its just wall to wall mattress could have done with some shelves. Big price tag for a Swift. The tag axle one is £48,000 cheaper.

Had a look round a rather nice Adria but to get in the toilet from the front you have to open the sliding door into the rear bedroom. If someone is in there asleep its really not going to work.

Think we will keep what we already have and just live with the fact its got a 16 on the plate and not a 19. That reminds me time for an MOT ..

That reminds me ... I did actually buy a "used" car that was brand new in all but name - registered the day before I collected it, so I was the 2nd owner (it had to be registered to Garage first for their Dealer Kickback) - but a good bargain as it was ordered by a Motability client that eventually changed their mind.
It was a Nissan Qashqai Tekna - very popular amongst Motability users I think due to the deals Nissan offered and the easy access to the interior. (A very good car as well - I did a 4,000 Mile Round Trip in mine covering 11 Countries in 10 days a few months after I bought it)

Ah nothing like the smell of wet dog !

Trouble is when you try to sell the car you have to do it with all the windows open !

Well I am pleased that my DIESEL fiesta is 9 years old and just passed the MOT with emmisions figures, he was looking at for the newer Euro numbers. It hardly showed on the meter. That was AFTER a thorough Italian Tune-up for20 miles at peak revs, just to clear it out. Thats What I always do to clear out the soot from the particulate trap. It has had a hard life as it has done a fair few miles now and mostly on faster roads. The Hymere has just loped along at 2300 rpm so it will need a white van man trip to clear it out in lower gears, It is due it's first testin May 31st so it will get a trip before the Lyndon Top rally. and the TOAD on the back to load it a bit, it is a bit underworked for a living at 26000 in three years, but I aim on fixing that more this year but driving through France is a bit slow nowadays.
