The Bessacarr 412 has a battery isolation switch linked to the ignition, on ours sometimes it works and sometimes not, today it is a definite NOT, because the battery is as dead as a Dodo.
I can't be bothered going to the expense of having a new ignition assembly fitted so have decided to fit a Ring smart charger, which, I just happen to have in the garage. Woohoo!!

Anyway, enough blather, the point of this post is: will the 2 year old battery be compromised due to it being flat as an anorexic supermodel or should it be ok once fully charged?

Yes probable screwed but charge it up and keep your fingers crossed

So what is draining the battery?

If your smart charger is definitely smart charger is the type that can drain, recycle, recharge, drain, recycle, recharge your battery repeatedly, then fingers crossed your battery might not be stuffed.

But what is causing the problem, what is causing the drain on the battery?

When I first bought my 08 Renault Master, it had a new battery and yet with everything turned off somehow or other it used to go flat after approx. 3 months parked up so I checked all the loadings and somewhere there was a drain.
Eventually I found that as this van of mine had a "Traffic Master" installed, this item (which was no longer of any use because the company had stopped trading) was never turned off and was the cause of the problem. Many days of searching I eventually found the dreaded black box, removed it and hey presto, from that day on I have never had a battery problem.

So what is the cause of the drain on your battery?

I have not been able to locate or think of anything that can be draining the battery but something is. On the previous MH it was the alarm so I fitted the smart charger, the MH was stored for 6 months whilst we were in NZ. It started on the first crank upon our return so was well pleased, it is the same charger I have just fitted to present MH.

Battery

Got mine out of storage (in a enclosed barn), leisure batteries flat.

I think that the radio usb was still proving charge to my iPod that I leave in the van, but a dealer tells me that by turning off the control panel in the van, it turns off the whole electric management system which also means that if any solar power was available, it would only charge the engine battery not the leisure batteries because of how it is wired at the factory.

Surprisingly after reading the manual it turns out my control panel also tells me if there is any amps going into or out of the leisure battery. I need to do some testing when I return home and am not plugged in.

Any battery should not be left of charge for more than four weeks altho makers clam 3 mth which i strongly disagree with, starter batterys only two weeks and you will be lucky to get the engine to turn over, always lleave them on a smart charger both engine and les.

My VW UP is often left for 3/4 weeks on my drive whilst I’m away in my pvc and always starts first time, it has an immobiliser and alarm.
My pvc starter battery is not connected to my solar panel and as above is often left 3/4 weeks and always starts. I have noticed it’s state of charge is low after a few weeks so the alarm etc is draining the battery. No doubt I will go out to start it one of these times and it will let me down lol.
