  1. Diesel heater or propex

With our pattern of use, the heating is on, cold or not. The thermostat takes control, so no need to switch off, though it is usually set to cut back the temperature dramatically at bedtime and come back up in the morning.
  2. Lithium battery

I deregistered for VAT last year, because I could. The accountants fees made it not worth being registered. It has increased the cost of stuff I buy in and sell on to VAT-registered businesses, but it has reduced the cost of my time to non-registered businesses and individuals. Swings and...
  3. Diesel heater or propex

This seems likely to only be true if you are not using refillable LPG. The reality is that both LPG and Diesel heaters are better than 85% efficient. I'll (arbitrarily) assume 90%. I'll use today's local ASDA prices Diesel costs around £1.13 per litre. A litre of diesel is about 846 grammes...
  4. Full Timing in Static Caravan plus Motorhome - Advice Needed Please ?

They are going out of their way to prevent abuse of planning law, avoiding paying council tax and the undermining of legal protection of tenants.
  5. My Knob is sorted :) but does the flame burn as bright still?

I'd say that those flames do look a bit small, but as it is the one you would use when you only want a gentle heat, even if it isn't designed that way, I'd see as a feature, not a bug. You can change the jets in gas appliances to alter the flame size, and it's fine as long as you can get the air...
  6. Noisy diesel heaters.

The problem is that they are noisier on the outside than on the inside, and that in the still of the night a small noise can be very intrusive. At least it isn't a generator!
  7. My Knob is worn out and won't stay up

My experience of a Spinflow hob (and grill) was that the tapered cones that turn in the tapered hollows of the valves had worn and were all leaking. It was a very long time ago and I think I sorted them out with grinding paste and engineers blue until they were a precise fit again. No more...
  8. Carver 4000 fanmaster thermocouple

I can't remember the model numbers, but there is one with fans and electricity that vents through the roof S5006 ?
  9. Gas problem with Fridge (Dangerous?)

I would have thought that valve failure would be related to how much it was used, how much it was abused and the storage conditions. The age of the bottle wouldn't be a major factor.
  10. Carver 4000 fanmaster thermocouple

I forgot to mention that the ones that look identical to that on my Aga are thermostats in the sense of an electric thermostat. They don't regulate or modulate: they switch on and off at the desired temperature.
  11. Carver 4000 fanmaster thermocouple

I am pretty sure it has fans. Not sure about electric elements. They do others with fans and electric elements, but I'm not sure of any of them vent through the floor.
  12. Electrolux RM4200S

Really not a good idea. Stick to the original wiring thickness. It was like that for a reason. You're right: a B2B is a far better approach.
  13. Electrolux RM4200S

Yes, the alternator always has a regulator with some sort of charge controller, even if a basic one. It'll charge the battery (to the alternator, there is only one) to 14 and a bit volts for a while, then drop back to 13 and a bit volts. The starter battery is connected by a good fat cable and...
  14. Returning from abroad with out of date MOT

If your MOT has expired (and it missed the free Covid-19 extension) the way to drive it legally on your return is to book it in for an MOT test near home. Preferably just the other side of home, so you can stop off on the way to the pre-booked MOT test.
  15. Gas problem with Fridge (Dangerous?)

Even that would fail. The law has a "reasonableness" test. An insurance company making an unreasonable demand, such as adhering to inapplicable regulations, would not stand up in law.
  16. Gas problem with Fridge (Dangerous?)

There is no legal requirement to test or replace a cylinder at any age, so "out of date" isn't possible.
  17. Electrolux RM4200S

It won't be running down, but it won't be charging very fast either. The alternator output won't be 14.2v when the engine battery is charged. It should drop back to about 13.7v or 13.8v, even though the leisure bank may not be full. And after the voltage losses in the cables, relays and fuses...
  18. Electrolux RM4200S

Ah, yes. 10v is the Combi voltage limit. The 6002 gets upset if the voltage drops much below 11 and a bit. Mine was cutting out when you turned a tap on: turned out that there was a bad fuse contact in the lead from the battery. I re-did the wring properly, so no more issues
  19. Gas problem with Fridge (Dangerous?)

Basically, I call this out as dishonesty. They say "You may wish to carry on using your cylinder past its working date, this is a decision that only you can make" which is the only relevant part of that page. If the cylinder is undamaged and not rusty, there is no reason why you can't carry on...
