  1. Corsica trip May 2024

Hi, we did Corsica & Sardinia back in 2019. Unfortunately wild camping on both islands isn't allowed and rangers do patrol. There are plenty cheap sites and Aires however if you do some simple Internet searches. To be honest it didn't spoil our enjoyment as there is still plenty to do and see...
  2. Visiting Gibraltar

You have already had some excellent advice. All I would add is have a plan B in your mind because in the winter especially, the cable cars are frequently taken off due to high winds, often with little or no notice. Don't let this detract from your visit, because however you get up the...
  3. Sites or wild spots by waters edge?

Bala lake. Cracking kayak spot & site right on the waters edge. If your travels take you to Dumfries & Galloway, Loch Ken , nice site right on the waterside or if you hit the coast, Rockcliffe, Kippford areas with some excellent sheltered coastal inlets. Hope you find these useful. Me and my...
  4. Berchtesgaden motorhome parking?

Hi, we were there 2018 and from what I remember there is ample parking at the bottom of the area where you get the bus. Arrive early because it gets very busy. In fact we got the bus up to the top level where you get the lift up to the Eagles Nest itself, but the queues to come back down were...
  5. Poland

Spent some time in and around Poznan through work about 12 yrs ago. During some down time had a good tour around the Wielkopolska area, including a 3 day kayak trip down some beautiful rivers/lakes in some fantastic hot weather. Lovely area and Poland in general is very friendly. Krakow is a...
  6. Belgium recommendations please

If youve got time to kill and are travelling around Zeebrugge, have a look at Knokke Heist. Its a bit of an upmarket coastal town with some lovely sea front walks that take to an area of salt marshes which is a bird sanctuary. If you walk that far you are actually in Holland too ! Its a...
  7. HELP ADVICE PLEASE

Has your key fob not got a normal key you can use to open the doorlock the old fashioned way ?
  8. Solar panel charging in U.K. - what to expect in December?

You are quite right... I am lucky that my van is parked up facing south so at the angle the panel is positioned, it makes the most of any sun that is available. Its was weeks of trial & error before I settled on what works for me ...
  9. Solar panel charging in U.K. - what to expect in December?

Ive got a 120w ecoworthy portable solar panel which is placed on the dashboard inside the vehicle. Even on dull & dank days I get 0.5 - 1.5 , so there should be something going into your battery ... Is your roof panel clean ? Its amazing the difference a simple wipe can make ...
  10. A19 or A1(M)?

I use it regularly and you will avoid the main roadworks around the Newcastle western bypass (car park) and A19 as you get towards Teesside. Plenty of wildcamping spots west of Newcastle so you dont have to detour much off that route. Its a main A road so no issues in a MH.
  11. A19 or A1(M)?

If youre not in a rush, A68 South to Darlo and miss the main bottlenecks on both. Lovely scenery as well .
  12. How to find the cheapest covid tests for travel.

There is plenty useful info on the internet including the likes of Tui and Jet2’s own websites, including some discount codes , even if you are not flying, these are still valid as they are external providers. Be prepared for a huge variation in prices and shop around . Victor
  13. Fridge power drain

I think snomaster do a 12ltr fridge freezer. Very slim as its designed to fit between seats. Tuff Trek are a uk stockist. Wont be cheap but you really do get what you pay for. Ive done a lot of 4x4 travelling with an Engel and I can honestly say in my experience Snomaster are comparable. Victor
  14. Fridge power drain

I had the same issue as you when I converted from tent camping to having a van. I tried an electric coolbox which runs all of the time but it drained my 105 amp battery in about 10 hrs, depending on temperature. I bought a snomaster compressor fridge freezer which I run off the leisure battery...

  16. New member in northumberland.

I live in Co Durham and quite often visit the area so I thought I would ring Stu and offer my opinion on his new venture. We had a good chat on the phone and arranged for me to stay over on the site last night, with a view to putting a totally unbiased review on here, to help people with their...

Absolutely right Fisherman and very well put. Thank you ... Victor
  18. Stay at Home

You are very correct and I do cringe at some of the things I, like everyone , sees. However the media tend just to concentrate on “ the sensational stuff “ because no one is really interested in the daily dross your average copper has to deal with. Additionally the whole Police Service is...
  19. Seaham Hall POI

Hi, seems to be plenty MHs stay at Seaham CU 1 overnight which is closest to Seaham Hall itself. The beach there is still very popular for collecting sea glass so before covid, you would often see a few foreign plated vehicles staying. There are no restrictions , as far as I am aware ,on the...
