Help please, can i get some advise feedback from you please

Let me say first, that I do feel for you and fear you are being ripped off. Speak to Citizens Advice they will be able to advise on your best course of action. Thats said, if the chap gave you a price and you agreed to it, then agreed to pay in advance and did so, I fear you may not have a...

    Another satisfied C&MC member

You're right it is subjective, but then aren't all opinions?

    Another satisfied C&MC member

We've been members for 3 years now and have yet to stay on one of their sites as they're ridiculously expensive (and from what I read far from friendly). We only keep our membership for the certificated sites.

    No MOT is OK 🤔

You can if you live on an island. On the Orkney outer isles it is legal to drive a vehicle without an MOT as long as it is taxed and insured. It has to be declared and it can only be used on the island. People on Orkney Mainland often sell on mot failures to the isles as "isles cars"...

Ah, sorry, I've just realised - you were referring to your own travel log.

Can you download the spreadsheet, or did you write it yourself?

    Chinese

I remember there being one of these in our outhouse (back in the day council houses didn’t have garages or sheds, they had outhouses). I seem to think it got broken by us, kids being kids, winding it up like we were trying to start a car.

Just noticed! Linkage = like 😌

    Battery monitor question

I linkage that analogy, bit like range on the trip computer vs using the fuel gauge. Thanks

    Battery monitor question

Thanks, that is a great explanation and pretty much answers all the issues I had in mind. i had indeed set the discharge floor to 60% so as not to go below that. Given what you’ve said this was pointless, which is fine now I know. I understand, miraculously, what you’re saying about the...

    Battery monitor question

Not sure if this is the right forum or even the right site but here goes… I have a victron battery monitor query for any experts in here. I have a bmv700 installed in my van and have recently installed two 110ah lead carbon batteries. I’m just testing them on the drive at the moment just...

Victron solar and B2B settings for lead carbon batteries

Thank you, yes I saw that. In the Solar controller there are three voltage settings - absorption, float, and equalisation. Presumably, from the battery, absorption is the “cycle use/ideal charge voltage“ = 14.2 - 14.4v and float is the “standby/top up charge” = 13.6 - 13.8v. they don’t state...

Victron solar and B2B settings for lead carbon batteries

Thanks for that, I’ll have a look. Presumably that would require using the custom setting option. I did use the club discount and saved a few bob.

Victron solar and B2B settings for lead carbon batteries

£355 for the two with the club discount, much cheaper than lithium which are out of my budget.

Victron solar and B2B settings for lead carbon batteries

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere… I‘ve just taken the plunge and ordered two of these - https://www.alpha-batteries.co.uk/12v-100ah-ritar-agm-lead-carbon-ultra-deep-cycle-battery-dc12-100c/ Any advice on charge setting for the solar controller and tr-smart B2B would be greatly...

    The North Coast 500

We did the western highlands part of the nc500 last year wild camping for a week with no problems (two vans in convoy). It was busier than I’ve seen it before with people in tents and in the back of estate cars but again no hassles. As for Orkney we live on one of Orkney‘s northern isles and...

    Parking! Large 😀

Maybe they’re just little cars with big ambitions - “when I grow up I want to be a motorhome” 😂

    Oh woe is me,

a bit harsh, makeshift stands makes it sound like I’m cobbling it together. I do have axle stands and to be honest I do tend to use wood or stone mainly, perhaps breeze blocks were a bad example.

    Oh woe is me,

I don't even trust axle stands. If I have to work underneath my vehicle I alway jack it up and drop it onto breeze blocks or something else wide and solid.
