Yes the old starter had numbers on originaly but with rust flaking paint etc we were unable to read enough to distinguish which part no and Portugal is not renouned for its effiency.

That is such a kind offer but the problem seems different starters were used on this model so far have had three sent but all wrong so may have to try to get the old one reconditioned.But thanks again for your kindness.

Because of ongoing starter problems ( unable to locate one) this means I can’t move the van so will have to wait before going any further. But thanks for all your help ,living in Portugal it is not always easy to get parts when required.

Thank everyone for your replies. Yes it appears to have a booster which is plugged in and turned on. ( only found it under wardrobe floor ) now please in very simple language how do I tune it. Sorry to be so thick but I like to repair things when I can see how they work and electronics baffle me.

Just a point don’t think it looks like the relays in your glove box , on my 94 Hymer it was probably about 4 inches long with quite heavy cables and if I remember correctly it was blue.

If it’s a 94 Fiat the heater relay is usually between the battery and main bulkhead on my last van it was blue .If in doubt just follow the wires.
