Definately worth going to if you have the weekend free! And good value too.
Gutted I cannot book it due to wedding plans (not mine!) putting spanner in the works :(
I went to LIDL today (wanted to pick up the 1000V handtools) and had a look at the Clamp Meter. Couldn't see any mention or indication on the photo of any NCV probe function so would assume not available.
If that is the case, not a lot of value in this Clamp Meter over a regular DMM.
? You can get DC Clamp Meters and they work just fine. I use mine to typically check battery charger operation. They work in the same was as the Hall Effect Sensors that some Battery Monitors use instead of an in-line Shunt.
However, what you DO need to do is only clamp around one wire - if...
I like the way the shower hose and head is pre-fitted and ready to use when you drop the door flap (y)
I have an external shower outlet but to use it I have to go get the hose & head and attach it so not quite as convenient.
I don't know if that LIDL Clamp Meter will have the feature, but for example my own Clamp Meter has a switch which lets it be used as a AC Voltage Probe. That can be very useful as it lets you check if a cable is live or not (which is probably far more useful then knowing what current might be...
The manager should set a maximum number for each sale to give other shoppers a fair chance. He is loosing out on overall sales by letting them do that.
(could easily do this by only putting out a few examples of an item at a time so these chancers have to come back again and again. that would...
£14.99 I think it was.
LIDL is annoying with the price tickets. Some aisles the prices are above and some aisles the prices are below. Can get a bit of a shock at the checkout!
Note the clamp meter only does AC current, not DC, so for motorhome use is not really any better than a standard Multimeter.
Some good value stuff for sure though. Decent kit but not world class quality (I keep having to push rubber handles on the pliers and cutters I have as they are a bit...
Generally speaking, if you can use a ring terminal and bolt rather than a post terminal you would get a better connection.
shame you didn't post these a few weeks ago .... fitting a pair of 160Ahs tomorrow :)
Trev, actually it is the other way round ... Lithium batteries want a lower voltage charge, not a high one. it is typical if the charger goes above 14.4V the lithium will have an over-voltage alarm go off. I stop charging my Lithiums at 14.19V
To put it bluntly, you need that cabling looked at, and I would say it should be a priority. The cables on the other (non-battery) side of the fuses are just as bad.
The Sargent Wiring (that is part of the kit Sargent make for the Motorhome Manufacturers) are notably heavier - they are either...
Fuse holders getting hot? At least it wasn't like this one (I hope!) that I took out of a van this morning :)

When you say the fuse holders are getting hot, are the cables also getting pretty warm? With that wiring, the ampacity (current carrying...
Given what is showing in the picture, that looks to be the easiest option to get the batteries setup right and I'd do the same.
Now on another note, the battery interconnects look nice and chunky and very decent. the connections going from the battery bank to the general motorhome habitation...
Given the level of changes you would need, I think just doing a straight swap like for like would be a better bet :)
Ref the license, I don't know how it works .... If you didn't keep your C1 and let it go on license renewal, CAN you get it reinstated without taking some kimd of HGV test...
bit of a shock :)
the 630Ah AGM battery bank I fitted in my VW Camper Conversion added up to 210Kg! I got a 300Ah Lithium delivered a couple of days ago ... 26Kg
another possible option thinking about it is joining your local "mens shed"? I think the tools within them are generally to be used within the building, but you could possibly arrange to borrow and takeaway for a day or if what you are doing can be carried inside, work on it within the 'shed'...
if you went for a Victron Multiplus 12/3000/120 Inverter/Charger you would have the ability to mains charge much faster than with the built-in charger (maybe 8x faster?). Something to consider if you can locate closer for shorter periods?
What I like to do (especially with heavy things like 150A lead batteries) is use a packing box to make up a couple of mock batteries and then manipulate those around to see how they fit. If you still have the boxes the batteries come in, just adapt some of them :)
