  2. Does this have legs?

You are right Barry, you can travel to other countries under the French 6 months visa. I haven't got a link but someone posted the wording from the French website and it said exactly that. You just have to leave and enter through France to and from UK. I shall be applying for it at the end of...
  3. Beware RWG mobile.

Sorry,I'm not into click bait titles.I have listed a host of problems I have been having with RWG in order to help others. Many people were having issues with them last year. I wasn't until this year. Now I am. Got out of bed the wrong side?
  4. Beware RWG mobile.

The service has stopped working twice for a total of 5 days in a 5 week period, until today it has been impossible to get an answer on their phone line, emails take 2 days for a reply. I took out a subscription for 100gb which has dropped to 20gb next week leaving me in the lurch. Yes, beware.
  5. Beware RWG mobile.

Last year some folks were having problems with this company and some were saying how good their experience, including me.Bit different this year. I've been in Spain the last few weeks and am now in Portugal.I bought their 200gb per month sim with 100gb roaming allowed in EU, for £20. Last week...
  6. Ouistreham overnight stop

The free aire at Hermanville-sur-Mer is only a few minutes away.Have used it a couple of times although it only has 6 spaces. Have also overnighted in a carpark at Luc-sur-Mer in order to have last fix of moules frites.
  7. Palos de la Frontera, Spain

When you get close to the replica boats they sailed in, they're tiny aren't they?
  8. New French, Belgium aires

There are many many Aires not listed in the Vicarious books.
  9. Tyres

Best price for a new tyre (Hankook Vantra LT), I could find online and having a ring round was Asda Tyres. Being fitted Thursday at my local garage.
  10. Electrobloc EBL99 standard vs. gel charger setting.

You won't go far wrong with the Varta LFD90's. I had 2 in my 2012 Globescout for 5 years, with the EBL99 set for lead acid charging. I dropped the voltage twice lower than I considered is good for batteries, and although they were still performing OK,with a long trip looming, swapped them for...
  11. Bad news for forecourt LPG

Whilst you can find lpg in Europe much more easily than here, there is evidence that it is disappearing. Using the apps. available you quite often arrive to find the pump is gone, luckily there is always another down the road, for now.
  12. Corsica trip May 2024

I travelled to Corsica and Sardinia in Sep/Oct 2019. They're not as easy as some places to wildcamp but I managed using various apps and only stopped at 3 campsites and an official aire in about 6 weeks. Beautiful islands I would like to visit again.
  13. Trip to France

The French have always considered themselves more racey than us staid, buttoned up Brits. But everytime I have followed their road signs proclaiming Deviation, I have been sadly disappointed. I've not found anything remotely titillating and it usua\lly takes me longer to get to my destination.
  14. Van swing bike rack

You need the swing type then. Horses for courses.
  15. Van swing bike rack

I had the Atera Strada 3 for 3 bikes. With only 2 bikes on the two rear rails, this cleared the rear doors.Brilliant rack recommended by Roofbox Co. I only changed to the Buzzrack as my e-bike has a really long wheelbase and was overhanging the rail ends on the Atera.
  16. Van swing bike rack

Have a look at Roof Box Company website. I bought my Buzzrack Hornet E1 from there. It tilts down away from the rear doors and I got enough clearance to open both doors by using a 20mm spacer between the tow bar bracket and tow ball on a X250 Ducato PVC. They do ones for 2 e-bikes as well...
  17. Trip to France

You got off lightly then. You can tell by the replies that some of us are eternally traumatised by our experience of the "botty sausage".
  18. Trip to France

DFDS Newhaven/Dieppe crossing is a better option than Dover/Calais or Dunkerque for the DDay beaches from where you are starting from. Admittedly not as near as Portsmouth/Caen or Cherbourg but usually a good bit cheaper, but do check, you sometimes get a nice surprise. Find the crossing you want...
  19. New van

If they offered the door on either side it would mean having two seperate mirrored internal layouts to manufacture for each model. Not going to happen. Also, although European vans are relatively popular here, the UK market for them is tiny compared to the huge European market.
  20. Black Friday deals of interest to wild campers

Like many I have purchased items on Black Friday deals in the past. I heard on R4 this week that an organisation, (I missed who they were), monitored the prices of a huge range of products, for 6 months before Black Friday and 6 months after. They found that only 2% of items were lower on Black...
