  1. How do you avoid those darn mosquitos?

Go to BBC podcasts “sliced bread” where they have a nice reasonably scientific look at mosquito repellents. Apparently Deet is not as bad as most people think and some of the other remedies have little effect. Worth a listen especially as smelly feet may have an influence……
  2. Water tank suspension brackets

I’m with Trev. That looks like galvanised loop mix welded onto a stainless bolt or the welding took off the galvanising in the area. Dissimilar metals always set up a galvanic reaction and sometimes it can be hard to see. Did my time on aircraft and it’s a big thing there as well as on boats. I...
  3. Headlamp protector clips

2009 Ducato. Took the headlamp protectors off to clean the headlamps after laying the van up for the winter and some of the plastic retaining clips have broken. Any ideas if they are available or has anyone any spare? They were on the van when I bought it so don’t know what make they are. Hey Ho.
  4. Spain - favoured supermarkets?

Second that but it has risen to a crushing €2.95 in our local Mercadona. Best not advertise it too much else it will get even more expensive……. I suppose that’s the European wide cost of living crisis for you.
  5. Number plates for France and Spain.

Bought a kit of the three gas connectors which work fine. Also have the UK sticker which people keep confusing with Ukraine, still the gifts of tinned food and warm clothes came in handy.
  6. Which route?

If there is no rush I always find the weather forecast gives the best route……..
  7. chasing moisture out of air in van

Well I think you are a rotten lot. It’s Christmas and here’s a guy genuinely asking a question and he ends up with all sorts of innuendoes about his personal generosity. All he needed was a simple answer about basic physics, it’s not his fault he bunked off all the science lessons to sell...
  8. Alpha Batteries

Just a big thanks to Alpha Batteries. Bought an 019 starter battery three years ago with a five year guarantee. It began to need top up charging when left for over a week with the alarm off, I tested it and sent the results to Alpha. Within 24 hours a replacement was on its way with no...
  9. Replacement decals

Thanks to all for the above replies. Will try a local graphic company and then if no luck I can check for fading by removing the damaged one. Still beating myself up over a moments distraction….grrrrr.
  10. Replacement decals

Was there any shadow left when getting rod of them? To be honest it’s my preferred option.
  11. Replacement decals

Had a very minor disagreement with a concrete post and the rear drivers side decals on my 2009 Timberland Destiny are badly damaged. Original replacements only come as a complete set and are very expensive, especially as I only need a couple. Anyone used another company to get replacements to...
  12. I Fink We Are Turning Into Froggies.

To really qualify you need to arrive at an Aire, shuffle about for ages looking for clear sky for the dish, stop, wife gets out with fifi the dog under her arm while you get the TV working THEN pull the blinds down to get a better picture....
  13. Costs in France 5 weeks

Been over since late august head back in a week. Only class fuel as an extra as we normally eat food all year and eat out occasionally though it’s far cheaper at lunchtime in France than the UK. Also by drinking a lot of wine I save even more. No idea what it cost to be honest but bank still...
  14. ROI Entry restrictions

Have been over twice and very few checks. No passport stamping as in the uk common travel area and just a nod from the guarda. They could but would only be using it as an excuse to look for something else, after all you can drive over the border from the north with a milk churn on the bonnet.
  15. EU Roaming.

Do you need a French address to get a data sim over there or here in my case? Have satellite which was on the van when I bought it but now the main UK channels seem to come up as no signal on Astra 2 I think they do a targeted (spot?) transmission for them. Anyway data seems the obvious choice...
  16. Lost in France 2022 ?

Tarn Gorge. Nice cup of tea…
  17. Lost in France 2022 ?

Coffee stop on the Ardeche Gorge.
  18. How do members deep clean "grey water waste" holding tank to eliminate smell

What is the make of the £8.99 green stuff. Used the Aldi green which seems ok but reading the ingredients it looks the same as the blue though none of the dreaded formaldehyde.
  19. Lost in France 2022 ?

If only I had a predictive head to match it….actually the idea of a Ducati along our route this morning is quite appealing!
  20. Lost in France 2022 ?

Been over that in Ducati panel van. Bit tense to say the least…. Now at start of Ardeche Gorges, blooming warm to say the least.
