Now,there's an idea ...

That article seems to be dated august 2009.
Here's a more recent post to the O&AL forum - does anybody have more current info?

Possibly I will email this to East Lothian, let them see that we are not the problem they reckon we are. :)

Seriously I know that Fife council look in here, so hopefully they will take notice when deciding on their forward thinking plans for the future of Motorhoming in Fife.

Never noticed the date on that article. Sorry if it's misleading.

Cheers

No problem - hopefully it'll mean that the authorities have a decade of positive experience to justify the idea!

The idea was scrapped after a short while. I think it was partly down to motorhome misdemeanours and local people complaining.

I read that Fife Council is introducing £10 per night charge for motorhomes at 2 of their beach car parks...…………..!

Bob Fife seem to be far more forward thinking than most.
I have had a phone conversation with the person in charge of the possible changes.
These changes include putting in chemical and grey water waste points and even some EHU points. Here is a link to the report.

Reply from Teignmouth:-

We do now allow overnight camping or sleeping in the car parks within the Teignbridge District.
I can only suggest that you have a look online to try and find a campsite that may be able to accommodate you.
Thanks
Tonya

I'm assuming Tonya meant to say 'We do not allow..'

There were a few threads about this on here back in 2009/10. Here is one of them explaining a bit what happened. https://wildcamping.co.uk/threads/dawlish-warren.11306/

A combination of misuse but probably more likely councillors ears being bent by the anti motorhome and anti fun police no doubt. Its the same old story right across the UK from the south coast to Whitby to Northumberland. Motorhomes not welcome. Backward.
