Hi all
Does anyone know a route tracker that actually works,
We have had several on our apple phones some you have to regularly pin where you are so it knows your route others you have to take photos and that shows up on your route and another one when we travelled along the dumfries coast it kept putting us in the lakes and as far away as Kendal
So what I would like is recommendations for a background app that just sits there and when I want to look ( possible once a month) at where I’ve been it gives me the route without photos and clicking buttons every half an hour, it might be three weeks before I look at it but it would be nice to have something that works, andy

Assuming you use satellite navigation, does the app/device have a record option?
I use a TomTom & it will record my route.

Ah it was polar steps that told me I crossed into the lakes and down as far as Kendal from the dumfries coast 35 times in a journey of 40 minutes

Sat nav is so old it was used by Hannibal to guide the elephants over the alps 😄

Another vote for polarsteps.I,ve used it using the option to upload photos but as long as you open the app it will run in the backround using little data and track your route.Useful also if you're travelling in convoy lost track of them and want to see where they are.

That's the phone, or it's lack of view of satellites, not the software I suspect.

Hmmm we are both on apple iPhones janet has a 7 and I have 6s
We both use 3network with unlimited data, calls, msg, so possibly a network error

Doesn't Google Maps do this? The blasted thing is always telling me where I've been and linking my photos to it. It does get confused sometimes though.

Ha ha I had that crossing a river somewhere in Scotland, it’s when it bounces between masts but think I only had it the one place. you select those you want to keep or delete though

Make sure you have location services turned on on your phone. This is the GPS chip rather than using the towers to triangulate your position. I have a Garmin GPS unit that sits on the front dash. Bluetooth connection to a Huawei Android Tablet.

Google with email for month travelling
Wifi will be tracked and shop Visits plots your time. Or it will say no places visited.

I see that Google may have got things slightly wrong at 150 miles driving taking 12 hours in the second screen shot. Unless the vehicle was a pedal car.
