Deployment of engineer's screwdriver

We haven't used the van for a few weeks so I got it out of the barn where we keep it and started to sort it out. Filled with water, turned on a tap - nothing. Checked the 12V, checked there really was water in it, checked the fuse. Went inside for a cuppa for inspiration. Went out, turned power off and on, scratched head. Started thinking expensive thoughts about a new pump, and how to get it sorted in 48hours...

Banged on the water tank in frustration - and the pump started.

Must have been some limescale or grit or something jamming it.

Annoying faults don’t you just love them. We used to have an electric bed I was always driving round wondering if it was going to work or not. Unfortunately it did not have a manual way of deployment.

Good point, we have one of those too and I seem to recall being told when I picked the van up that there was a handle to wind it manually. Wonder where it is?
 
I find with all these annoying faults, that it’s usually fluff in the works ?
.Best way to fix it is a good rub down with an oily rag.
Well that’s what my old dad told me and he was an engine driver !!

Old Yorkshire mechanics remedy for anything.
You couldn't go wrong with simple Imperial units.
It doesn't work in metric.
