Engine battery charging

Try the Cyrix battery combiner from Sunstore I fitted one late last year it works well by ensuring the charge between my leisure batteries and my starter and auxiliary baterries are kept even. So basically my solar panel is charging all batteries. I am now able to use the power efficiently all year through never running out of power even with the Webssto heater running. I have a transit based cab hence the starter and auxiliary battery.

How much does it cost compared to my gizmo at 25 bucks,and what is the max load in watts or amps .

The Stirling Battery Maintainer works all the time, you can select which battery is the primary one in my case the leisure battery this then allows a small milli amp charge to the main van battery when stood this allows for any discharge on the van battery by ECU or Alarm etc it won't discharge the leisure battery as there is a cut off.

And whats keeping the other bat up,looks like both are discharging with nothing recharging them up.
 
This will work wether engine running or not and even if you don't have panels, the intelligent system gets to know the usage of the batteries and compensates accordingly. Easy to fit aswell.

No unit can charge batteries unless it has a source of power,all you are doing is swapping to level batts out,this if over done could leave you with a flat starter batt.

It quite simply, from solar, charges leisure batts, then switches charging to vehicle bat when leisure are full. As soon as leisure batts volts drop it reverts back to charge them, worked fine on mine for the last 3 years

Same thing as im using,a good bit of simple kit though mine has leds on it to let you know stat of charge.
 
I have read through this thread with great interest and as usual on the forum the knowledge members have on the subject is amazing.
I have only been motorhoming 3 1/2 years, c class and now a pvc..
On both I have only had my solar panel charging the leisure batteries and to be honest using my pvc every 2 to 3 weeks have to date had no need to charge the vehicle battery as it retains its charge when stood for weeks on end.
Are these dual charger 'add ons' aimed at people who stand their vehicles without moving for months on end without ehu to charge the batteries or am I missing something ?
 
Obanboy 666 - yes, ours has been stood a long time in storage and the starter battery went completely flat.

We usually go away every month or so but due to illness we've not been away anything like that recently and despite starting and running the engine on a regular basis the starter battery soon went flat.

I believe the alarm system is connected to the starter battery and presume that could be the problem in draining it.

Anyway, with the CSB2 device now fitted the solar panel and the leisure batteries are keeping the new starter battery topped up nicely in preparation for our France trip in a couple of weeks.

Despite being cheap as chips it seems to work as it says on the tin and I'm glad we fitted one – I'll let you know if there are any problems with it but at the moment I'm happy with the way it performs.

Many thanks, something I will have to bear in mind if I stand mine for any length of time.
Bearing in mind how cheap they are I might fit one anyway. I assume the worst part will be running cables cabling from the leisure to the vehicle battery ?

Should be easy to sort wiring,any stater battery standing more than a week or two will go down hill and may never regain its full power.
My van some times sits for 2 weeks or more through winter and always keeps the batteries up with this unit even in the dark winter.
I also have this we unit which will split the mains charger to both batts if you wish to use ehu mains .
