New rules for Dartmoor?

Bad those horrible disposable barbecues, and all the associated plastic tat the same people can't go without. That would do wonders for the environment in general.

“Rangers and other staff use the byelaws as a way of engaging and educating the public and for many years people were very willing to listen and respect those views. Increasingly people are questioning the basis for the advice and looking for grey areas to challenge staff, often in an aggressive manner.”

BBQ's and idiots are not a new thing so what has changed......

"National Park Authorities manage our ten English National Parks and have faced substantial cuts in the funding they receive from the Government over the past five years. The Campaign for National Parks is concerned about the impact these funding cuts have had on services the Authorities provide and will potentially have in the future. These impacts will not only be on the quality of these important and treasured landscapes and people’s ability to continue to enjoy visiting and learning about these national assets, but the cuts also threaten the social and cultural fabric of our rural communities and businesses"

Dartmoor had a 40% budget cut between 2010 - 2015 (struggling to find more recent stats). Rather than addressing the possible causes of the changes in behavior the reaction is to restrict all, including those that know how to behave from enjoying the moor as it is intended.

Just an observation

Well could it be the attitude communication skills of the Rangers and the way they express them selves when anyone questions a order IMO a lot of Police, Security Officers & Council officials etc are lacking it as well
